CUSTODIAL DEATHS: AN UNREVEALED TRUTH                                                 BY MAYANK RAJ ABSTRACT Complaint of police excess and torture of suspects in police custody have been made in the past. Such complaints have assumed wider dimension, as the torture deaths has increased to an alarming proportion. Preventing torture in custody and ensuring strict compliance of its guideline in custodial deaths is one of the important agenda of NHRC’s list. A sudden and unexpected death in police custody rise many question on enforcement agencies. Delay in providing basis health care is the most commonest allegations by the relative to the jail authority. As there was law made by our honourable supreme court on health checkup in every 48 hrs. India also have to make an anti torture law like US. There is some guideline made by the SC but the question is “are they following it”.
